Other Interests

Here's a list of my non-academic interests:

Photography

I am a photographer with a documentary and conceptual approach, capturing stories that explore time, memory, and identity. My work often focuses on the unnoticed details of daily life, the emotional nuances of human expression, and the interplay between people and their environments. Checkout my photography here.

Dance

I moonlight as a dancer, exploring the rhythm and energy of salsa, the elegance of Classical Persian dance, and the fluid connection of contemporary partnering. My practice balances structure and improvisation, finding expression in both precision and spontaneity.

Rowing

I was a port/starboard rower on the Illinois Rowing Men's Team, competing for two years in both 8+ and 4+ boats. Rowing taught me discipline, teamwork, and the rhythm of moving in sync with others on the water.

Environmentalism

  • Jane Goodall Institution-Roots and Shoots Malaysia

I volunteered with Roots and Shoots Malaysia on several occasions including Dr. Jane Goodall's talk, "Reasons for Hope" and Chade-Meng Tan's discussion at the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC). I was also trained to represent Roots and Shoots at at public events through the Train the Trainer programme.

  • Worldwide Fund for Nature India

I prepared the Childrens' Corner in the WWF-India KLSO Newsletter for several issues. I also wrote the script and storyboard for an animated documentary WWF-India is going to produce. Finally, I manned WWF's booth at India's National Biodiversity Congresss.

Cooking

My interest in cooking arose from my interest in eating! I like to experiment with ingredients and create my own recepies or modify other recepies.
